Do - There is No Try

Yoda had it right: commit to the move.

As the infamous Master Yoda says “Do – There is no try” can be easily applied to Paintball. You may say, “I can’t move to that position I may get hit” even though nobody is there. Sometimes in Paintball you have to just do things without hesitation, otherwise you may get yourself into a position that will get you hit anyway. For example if you are sitting in a bunker and your opponent knows you are there but moves back into their bunker to either hide for cover or to reload, this is a perfect opportunity to move to the bunker to the side he was not looking out on.

Communication can play a major role in when to move as well. If your team mate says that the person that was shooting at you has poked back into his bunker, don’t hesitate to move to the next bunker over in front of you to get a clearer shot, but this also does take some simple quick thinking and planning that will come more natural with time. Look to see all your options to move to first, or if the bunker your currently in is the only safe option. After, see your self in that bunker and what you can do in that bunker. Can you get a better angle? Can you move there without being noticed?

When the time comes to move, move. If you see that he moved in then go before he comes back out and sees you on the move. Always move to a position that allows you a better vantage point. Sometimes it may be best to just stay put and have a team mate take them out, but that doesn’t mean that you can’t still help out. Watch the side lines to make sure nobody tries to move up on you unnoticed, be prepared to get bunkered.
