What Is Bunkering?

The term you will hear everywhere, and why new players rarely see it.

Bunkering in Paintball is something that is heard over and over and over again, no matter where you go Paintball related. So lets get this clear and over with what “bunkering” is and why you probably would not see it in your first few times going out to play.

The term “bunker” in Paintball refers to the object one player is defending behind. So when bunkering happens, one player from the opposing team will come usually on the opposite side of the bunker that the un-suspecting player is shooting out from and shoot them out at “point blank range”. (So if they were shooting on the right side they would be bunkered on the left side). The reason this is not encouraged when playing newer players to Paintball is because it hurts a lot for the bunkered player if they have not been playing Paintball for a long period of time due to the closeness of the tag. Over a period of time being bunkered hurts probably as much as a mosquito bite does.
